We never had an arcade in my hometown :/

While In grew up there were two arcades at the local mall in my hometown. One of which was rather big. They've both been closed for 15 years now. Now the closest thing anyone can get to that experience are (lively) internet cafes.

As console systems grew in strength the need for arcades diminished. but you are right. It's not just about the games, but the social experience that will be sorely missed.

You occasionally see small arcades in movie theaters, but many times those require 75 cents per play on even the basic games. Screw that.

Exactly. Consoles have pretty much made the Arcade obsolete. I am not complaining mind you, because I am a firm supporter in technological advancement. But I also dont want my son to miss out on the experiences that I treasure from my own childhood
